Israel at Home

http://Israel with Love hopes that you enjoyed a wonderful Purim filled with friends, family and visits by clowns, princes and even a few Queen Esthers!
Here, the holiday was magical with plenty of adults in costumes singing Purim songs and eating way too many hamentaschen.
And, despite restrictions on large gatherings due to the coronavirus, the country was not somber… far from it! News stories from across the country proved how creative Israelis are in the face of adversity. Many synagogues (ours included) arranged a Zoom call so that quarantined members could hear the Megilla reading in real time. Israelis left mishloach manot baskets (traditional treats) outside of homes and hospitals so that everyone could satisfy their Purim sweet tooth. Others stood outside homes and read Megilla from the street so that those quarantined at home could participate in the mitzvah of hearing the Megilla.
And yes, it’s true… People who were planning to visit Israel in the next few weeks have had to postpone their trips. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy some Israeli beauty. Some of our favorite artists who offer workshops here also have items that they can ship abroad. So, if you’ve had to postpone your trip, or just feel like adding a little Israeli beauty to your home or you hosts’ seder table, think about ordering an item from one of the sites listed below.

1. https://mandybroder.com/ For those of you lucky enough to have visited Israel in the past, you may have enjoyed a woodworking workshop in Gush Etzion led by the charming Mandy Broder. Well, you can enjoy Mandy’s talent from home. She offers an incredible variety of wood-carved items for the home. Mandy’s natural warmth shines through in every item that she creates.

2. Shevi Berman creates beautiful fused-glass designs. Shevi displays a great attention to detail and her work is exquisite! You can find her work on Etsy.  https://www.etsy.com/il-en/shop/SheviBGlassCreations

3. OK, let’s face it… As wonderful as Pesach is, it requires a lot of extra work. Why not treat yourself to a beautiful new pocketbook or wallet created by Tracey Mirkin Lippman. Her designs are bright, fun and functional!

4. Tamara Zuckerman of https://tasuestudio.com/ offers spectacular handwoven creations. Just check out her web site and you’ll be amazed by her talent. And, maybe on your next visit, you can register for one of her workshops.

5. It’s hard to believe, but summer is not that far away. Many of us love the pool and beach but want more coverage that a traditional bathing suit offers. Marci Kaplan Rapp offers stylish modest swimwear that allows you to enjoy the beach in a way that makes YOU feel comfortable.www.marseamodest.com

Before leaving, Israel With Love is happy to announce that we will have another list of great Israeli gift suggestions on Sunday, March 15th when we post the next installment.
